The Michigan House of Representatives has issued a release
proclaiming that a Southeast Michigan lawmaker, Andrew Richner, “supports
preserving the state’s environment, but opposes federal regulations that
curb urban revitalization to preserve [so called] civil rights.” The release
also stated that “The EPA guidelines will raise the cost of doing business
in urban areas and will drive business out into greenfield areas…in direct
contravention of our own efforts to redevelop brownfields and urban industrial
sites.” This editor would note that EPA’s well intended but misdirected
“environmental justice” policy is turning into a civil rights issue (CWMCN
Volume 6, Issue No. 5).
